CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history:

The first Independent [Congregational] congregation in Isleworth was registered in 1798. A place of worship for Congregationalists is mentioned in 1831, and in 1849 the present chapel at the corner of Twickenham Road and Worton Road was opened. A British school was attached to it from 1840 to the eighties.

Church Books containing various entries including brief history of the formation of the Church, minutes of Church meetings, membership rolls, marriages, baptisms and burials and other committee minutes, 1849-1919; Minute Books containing minutes for various Church committees, particularly Deacon's Meetings but also Church Meetings, Members' Meetings, Trustees Meetings and Church groups, 1875-1955; membership rolls, 1878-1919; financial accounts, 1876-1963; conveyance for land at the corner of Worton Road and Twickenham Road, Isleworth, 1920 and papers of the Sunday School, 1873-1958.
