The Metropolitan Roads Commission was formed in 1826 under the Act 7 George IV. c.142. It was responsible for the maintenance of the following roads:
Kensington Roads
Isleworth Road
Brentford Roads
Uxbridge Road
Kilburn Road
Harrow Road
Old Street
City Road
Hackney Road
Lea Bridge Road
Stamford Hill Roads (including Green Lanes)
Highgate and Hampstead Roads
Camden Town Roads
Marylebone Roads (including Edgware Road and New Road).
