CONTEXT
Administrative/Biographical history:
Saint Barnabas Church is situated on the north side of Clapham Common at the corner of Lavender Gardens. It is a large stone building constructed between 1897 and 1898 in a 14th century style. The church of Saint Matthew, Lavender Hill was a daughter church of Saint Barnabas in 1898.

Records of the parish of Saint Barnabas, Clapham Common, including registers of baptisms, marriages and banns of marriages; registers of church services; papers relating to the work of the clergy; records of church personnel; papers relating to parish boundaries; papers relating to the benefice; records regarding the maintenance of church buildings including the church hall; parish administrative records including Vestry and Parochial Church Council minutes; financial accounts; and printed material including parish magazines. Several of these records and registers relate to Saint Matthew, Lavender Hill.
