Edward John Carlos was the author of Historical and Antiquarian Notices of Crosby Hall (1832) and Some Account of the Chapel of Our Lady, in the Priory Church of St. Mary Overy, Southwark (1832).

Scope and content/abstract:
Volumes of notes relating to churches in London, Middlesex, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Monmouthshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, Warwickshire, and Yorkshire. Including architectural sketches and plans, compiled 1820s to 1840s. Some of these notes were later published in the Gentleman's Magazine. The notes appear to have been gathered together and pasted in to these volumes after Carlos' death.

These volumes were purchased by Guildhall Library in 1993, and they were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in the same year. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
