'To Maister Anthonie Bacon. An Apologie of the Earle of Essex, against those which falsely and maliciously taxe him to be the onely hinderer of the Peace, and quiet of his Countrey'. The text differs slightly from that of the first printed edition of 1603.

With the bookplate of Horatio Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford, and a note, "bought at the sale of Sir Julius Caesar's MSS., 1757". Phillipps MS. 11788, "from Strawberry Hill 1842". Accompanying the MS. formerly covering it, is a parchment deed between Sir Edward Osborne, ancestor of the Duke of Leeds, and Humfry Bark, dated 14 Nov. 1586.
