These papers were given by Carlisle to his friend T J Pettigrew (see MSS. 5371-5372), who used them for his work on the seals of the grammar schools, published in 1856.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Acquired at the Pettigrew sale, Knight, Frank and Rutley, 23 Aug. 1905.
