The papers are largely unbound, with some arranged in two autograph albums, and a bound volume of condolence letters.

The papers were presented by Sir Edward Playfair, great nephew of the first Lord Playfair, in 1962. Lord Playfair's medals, including the gold medal from Prince Albert, and decorations were also given to the College.
