Scope and content/abstract:

These manuscripts comprise material gathered by Norman Comben, a retired vet and dealer in books and manuscripts on veterinary topics, 1796-1913. The items originate from a wide variety of places in the United Kingdom; areas particularly well-represented include Cumberland and Westmorland, northern Ayrshire, Linlithgow, Cheshire and the neighbouring areas, and Herefordshire.

System of arrangement:

Within each manuscript, material is sorted into date order. The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.

Conditions governing reproduction:

Photocopies/photographs/microfilm are supplied for private research only at the Archivist's discretion.
