Administrative/Biographical history:
The Christian Economic and Social Research Foundation was founded in the 1950s, carrying on the work of the Economic Research Council.
It produced many publications on aspects of social welfare, the most important of which were the Chief Constables' Reports on Drink Offences. It provided evidence for royal commissions and other public bodies.

Publications of the Christian Economic and Social Research Foundation, on subjects as diverse as drink offences; theft and the victims of crime; taxation; shopping centres; violence; social problems of youths; family problems; alcohol advertising; road safety; and licensing legislation. The majority of the publications are concerned with alcohol and the control of drinking.
