Administrative/Biographical history:

Rhys Davies was born on 9 November 1903 in the Rhondda Valley, Wales. He was educated at Porth County School. Davies published his first novel The Withered Root in 1927 and continued to publish books until the mid 1970s. Davies died in London on 21 August 1978.

Scope and content/abstract:

Holograph manuscripts of novels. SL V 51 is The Withered Root (1927). SL V 52 is Arfon (1930). SL V 53 is Rings on Her Fingers (1930) SL V 55 is Count Your Blessings (1931) and SL V 54 is a collection of the author's manuscripts of short stories and poems.

Access to the items in the collection is unrestricted for the purpose of private study and personal research within the controlled environment and restrictions of the Library's Palaeography Room. Copies may be made, subject to the condition of the original. Copying must be undertaken by the Palaeography Room staff, who will need a minimum of 24 hours to process requests.
