Teresa Ann Englefield was the daughter of Sir Henry Englefield by his second wife. She was a pupil of Samuel Dunn who gained a considerable reputation as a geographer and astronomer and was in demand as a private tutor in London during the 1770's.

A notebook dated 1772 bearing the title The Rudiments of Geography and Astronomy, from the Dictates of Sam. Dunn, Teacher of Mathamaticks &c.
