Administrative/Biographical history:
John Pridden, minor canon of St Paul's and of Westminster, was curate of St Bride Fleet Street from 1783 to 1803, and rector of St George Botolph Lane with St Botolph Billingsgate from 1813 to 1825.

Scope and content/abstract:
Papers of John Pridden, clergyman. The records comprise: notes on the history of St Bride Fleet Street [1800]; topographical collections relating to London and Middlesex [180-]-1825; transcripts of early 16th and late 17th century documents concerning St Paul's Cathedral, compiled 1785 and late 18th century; topographical collection relating to St Paul's Cathedral, 1779-1854; and correspondence with the Dean of St Paul's, 1795-1797.

Immediate source of acquisition:
Ms 5763 and Ms 5872 were purchased by Guildhall Library in 1964 and 1949 respectively. Ms 5872A was photocopied by Guildhall Library staff in 1982 from the collections held at St Paul's Cathedral. Ms 22298-9 were deposited in Guildhall Library in 1987. These records have been catalogued by members of Guildhall Library staff at various dates since 1964. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
