The collection was collated by Julian Robinson, Head of the Fashion School, in the 1970s.

Scope and content/abstract:

Large collection of garments and accessories, dating from the late Victorian period to the 1970s, including dresses, shoes, hats, bags, underwear, jewellery, haberdashery and perfume bottles. The majority of the collection dates from the 1920s and 1930s, and is mainly comprised of women's clothing, though there are items of menswear such as uniforms, overcoats and suits.

Partial finding aid. This comprises a simple catalogue, which includes slides of some of the items with notes on historical background (date, description, country of origin and condition).

The various garments and accessories were acquired by purchase and donation, and were initially housed in the department.

Immediate source of acquisition:

The collection was placed in the Library for safekeeping in 1980.
