Robert Milne Murray was born, 1855; read arts in St Andrew's University; moved to Edinburgh to study medicine; staff of the Royal Infirmary and Royal Maternity Hospital; designed a modification of the forceps previously invented by Tarnier; died, 1904.

Archival history:

Part of an estate of which Mr R Vaughan-Jones, an ophthalmic surgeon of Newport in Monmouthshire, was trustee. He passed the volumes to Mr J M Bowen MRCOG, who presented them to the College in July 1952 via Gilbert Strachan.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Transferred from the Library to the College Archives in September 2007.
