Administrative/Biographical history:
John Kenworthy Walker, son of Sir William Walker (1753-1825) and Martha Kenworthy, obtained his MB (Edinburgh and London) in 1811, and his MD (Cantab) in 1820. He practised at Deanhead, near Huddersfield, and was Consulting Physician to the Huddersfield Infirmary. He published two articles in the Gentleman's Magazine, 'On the Primitive Language' in Volume 26, 1846, and 'On Roman Inscriptions in Britain' in Volume 37, 1852. Walker's last entry in the Medical Directory (provincial) was in 1873.

Scope and content/abstract:
Papers of John Kenworthy Walker, 1809-1849, comprising a manuscript volume containing notes of lectures made whilst studying for his MB at Edinburgh University, where James Gregory was Professor of Medicine. Topics include phlogosis; supporatio, pus, gangrena and phlegmon; opthalmia; phrenitis and cyanche tonsillarus; cyanche maligna, 1809; innoculatio variola, vaccine innoculation, ruboela, uiticana, pemphigus, aptha, and haemorrhagia; and a formula for cholera medicines by J Macaulay of Leeds, 1849.
