Scope and content/abstract:
Records of the Middlesex County Council Clerk's Department relating to the Chairman of the County Council, 1890-1965, including papers relating to Council administration including seating in the Council Chamber, orders of proceeding, printing and dispatch of reports, notices of motions, amendments, summaries of proceedings, agendas, annual meetings of the County Council, constitution, Middlesex Regiment presentations and regimental colours, and ceremonies. Papers relating to County Council elections including election leaflets, and papers relating to the triennial elections, 1949-1961. Papers relating to County Councillors including declarations of acceptance of office, resignations, elections of Aldermen, deaths of members and past members, and annual returns of attendances.
General files relating to Middlesex County balls, County dinners and receptions, Chairman's social functions, twinning of Middlesex with places in France and Germany, biographies and newspaper cuttings relating to Chairmen, copies of invitations, Christmas cards, dinner menus and so on, and photographs of the last meeting of the Council.
Also statements on some principal operations of the County Council, made by the Chairman.
