CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history:

Dalston Synagogue opened in Colveston House, Ridley Road, in 1874. It later moved to a purpose built building in Mildmay Road. The synagogue was admitted as a Constituent member of the United Synagogue in 1885. North London Synagogue merged with it in 1958, and it amalgamated with Stoke Newington Synagogue in 1967.

Records of Dalston Synagogue, consisting of minutes, cash book and registers of kethubot [marriage contracts] and chalitzah.

Deposited as part of a larger accession of material from the United Synagogue. The minutes and financial records (items 1-6) form part of the original deposit, while the registers of kethubot and chalitzah (items 7-12) are part of an additional deposit.
