CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history:

The National Association of Labour Teachers (NALT) acted as a pressure group and a forum for debate on educational issues through its annual conferences, regional meetings and publications. The NALT was renamed the Socialist Educational Association (SEA) in 1961.

Significant studies of the work of the NALT have been made by several researchers and copies of their dissertations are included with the records (see A/NLT/06/14,15).

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract:

Records of the National Association of Labour Teachers, later the Socialist Educational Association. The records cover the period 1926-1983, although the minutes of the executive committee only continue until 1965. They include Executive Committee minutes; papers relating to annual conferences; constitution of the Association; membership lists; correspondence; files relating to campaigns; press reports; Association publications and newsletters.
