Manuscript volume containing various works of Charles Davenant translated into Spanish, 1741-1742, namely An essay upon ways and means of supplying the war, A Report (a second Report) to the Honourable the Commissioners for putting in execution the Act, intitled, An Act for the Taking, Examining, and Stating the Publick Accounts of the Kingdom, An Essay upon the probable means of making a People gainers in the Ballance of Trade, Discourses on the Publick Revenues, An Essay on the East India Trade, and A Discourse upon improving the revenues of the State of Athens (originally by Xenophon).

Manuscript folios. Bound in morocco, stamped with the Stuart arms. The parts of Volume II are bound up in the wrong order.

The binding of the manuscript is stamped with the Stuart arms. It contains the bookplate of Edward Frederick Langdale of Hampton Court, whose collection was sold at Sotheby's on 23 Nov 1887.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Part of the Goldsmith's Library of Economic Literature, initially collected by Herbert Somerton Foxwell and presented by the Goldsmith's Company to the University of London in 1903.
