Administrative/Biographical history:

Jeremy Bentham was born in London in 1748. He was educated at Westminster School, and Queen's College, Oxford, before practising law. He became a leading enlightenment thinker and the originator of Utilitarianism. His body was preserved after his death and is displayed at University College London.

CONTENT

Scope and content/abstract:

Letter from Jeremy Bentham of Queen's Square Place, Westminster to J H Carr, 11 May 1820. Referring to a visit to be made by John Stuart Mill to Paris. Bentham proposes to use Mill ('a young friend of mine') as the bearer of a conveyance. Only the signature and a postscript are in Bentham's hand.
