CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history:

Guy's Hospital Reports was first published in 1836, and contained papers by staff and lecturers of the Hospital. Supervision of the publication of the Reports was undertaken by the Schools Meeting and later by the Advisory Committee of Guy's Hospital Reports. The Editorial Committee oversaw the printing, circulation, advertising and subscriptions. Publication of the Reports was discontinued in 1974 due to the increasing costs of production.

Records relating to Guy's Hospital Reports, 1856-1985, comprising minutes and papers of the Advisory Committee of Guy's Hospital Reports, 1907-1921; minutes and papers of the Editorial Committee, 1922-1974; administrative papers, comprising notes on the printing and delivery of Reports, 1835-1838; list of subscribers, 1875-1897; correspondence of the editor, relating to contribution of articles and printing, 1856-1922; papers of the Medical School Secretary relating to the publication of the reports, 1952-1985, including correspondence with contributors and printers;

accounts relating to publication and printing, comprising journal, 1932-1974; ledger, 1950-1977; annual accounts and balance sheets, 1933-1972;

copies of Guy's Hospital Reports, 1893, 1913-1972 (incomplete series), with indexes, 1856, 1894-1961; supplement, 1927; copies of reprinted articles, 1952-1972.
