Administrative/Biographical history:

The London Gas Light and Coke Company Deed of Settlement was formed in 1832-1833. It was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1844 (7-8 Victoria cap. 95); 1849 (12-13 Victoria cap. 37) and 1852 (15-16 Victoria cap. 82). The Company had Gas Works at Nine Elms, Vauxhall. It was amalgamated with the (Chartered) Gas Light and Coke Company in 1883.

Scope and content/abstract:

Records of the London Gas Light Company, including half yearly reports and accounts submitted by the Directors of the Company to the Shareholders; contracts for lighting parts of Chelsea, Saint Pancras and the Tothill Fields districts; agreements with various road authorities concerning the laying down of gas mains in South London; and papers relating to premises in Lambeth and Battersea.
