Administrative/Biographical history:

Bayswater Chapel was constructed in 1818, designed by T Cooper. It was renamed Saint Matthew's in 1858, and the building was altered in the same year. In 1881-82 a new, larger building was constructed that could seat 350 more people.

Records of the parish of Saint Matthew, Saint Petersburgh Place, Bayswater, including baptism registers (1858 - 1966); marriage registers (1858 - 2007); banns of marriage registers; confirmation registers; service registers; orders of service; papers relating to church personnel; papers, correspondence and photographs relating to church buildings; minutes of the parochial church council and various committees; electoral registers; annual accounts; ledgers; churchwardens' accounts; offertory registers; correspondence and papers relating to financial matters; records relating to parish school; parish magazines; newsletters; papers relating to the history of the parish.
