Context

Administrative/Biographical history:

The church of Saint Chad was constructed in 1868 to designs by James Brook, using a Romanesque style. In 1953 the parish was merged with Saint Mary's, Haggerston. Saint Chad's became the parish church of the new parish.

Records of the parish of Saint Chad, Nichols Square, Haggerston, including registers of baptisms, marriages and church services; Parochial Church Council minutes; parish magazines; records relating to parish boundaries; papers relating to the maintenance of church buildings and the churchyard, including faculties and plans; parish administrative records; and printed items including newspaper cuttings and leaflets.
