The Home Office Vehicles Pool was established in October 1941 "for the Issue of Home Office Vehicles Policies on agreed terms in respect of National Fire Service and Smoke Protection Vehicles and for the sharing of risks arising out of the issue and renewal of such policies". The Home Office Vehicles Poll was managed by the Accident Offices Association.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Accident Offices Association records, and those of the other associations it managed, were deposited in the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library on 27 June 1985. In June 1994, the deposit was converted to a gift by the Association of British Insurers. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
