The records of Joseph Preston and Sons, watch, clock and chronometer movement makers, comprise two volumes containing descriptions of parts c 1890-5 and 1892-1914 (Mss 14558, 14560), a cash book 1893-1904 (Ms 14545) and a bank pass book 1907-12 (Ms 14559).

Immediate source of acquisition:

Purchased by the Clockmakers' Company at an auction of the library of Professor David Torrens of Dublin. The Clockmakers' Company deposited these records in the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library in 1973, together with the business archives of Victor Kullberg (watch and chronometer maker of Islington) and E. Sills (watch and chronometer finisher of Tottenham), and lecture notes of Heinrich Otto concerning watchmaking. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
