This company acted as shipping agents and managers of Australasian United Steam Navigation Company (see CLC/B/123-07). Both companies were part of the Inchcape Group of companies.

Macdonald, Hamilton and Company records comprise: partnership deeds, declarations of trust, power of attorney, and correspondence 1907-55 (Ms 27784-6, 38570-6); plans of offices 1919-20 (Ms 27787), and histories 1934-5 (Ms 38577).

Immediate source of acquisition:

Ms 27784-7 were deposited in the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library in 1987-88 together with archives of other companies in the Inchcape Group. They were catalogued in 1988-9. Ms 38570-7 were donated to Guildhall Library by P&O Australia in 2005, and were catalogued in 2007. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
