Context

Administrative/Biographical history:

Denis Paul was an author and philosopher with a strong interest in the philosopher Wittgenstein, on whom he wrote and number of articles and books, and contributed to websites which represented the authors work. Paul was given the job of editing and compiling Wittgenstein's last work after the philosopher's death. He corresponded with many individuals regarding philosophy, including the author Iris Murdoch to whom he wrote for many years, philosopher Isiah Berlin, and members of the Tolkein family.

Scope and content/abstract:

Correspondence and documents created by Denis Paul. Denis Paul was an author and philosopher with a strong interest in Wittgenstein. He corresponded with many individuals regarding this interest, notably with author Iris Murdoch amongst others. The collection contains many letters written to Denis Paul by Murdoch, Isiah Berlin and others, and some documents written by Denis Paul in the course of his life time- this includes drafts of books and screenplays on which he worked.
