Administrative/Biographical history:

Vivian Bartley Green-Armytage (1882-1961) was a Foundation Fellow of the College and served as its Vice President from 1949-1951. He endowed the Green-Armytage Short Term Travelling Scholarship Fund, the Green-Armytage Anglo-American Lectureship and the J Y Simpson Oration (bibliography: see Sir John Peel, Lives of the Fellows, pp.179-181).

Papers of Vivian Bartley Green-Armytage, 1915-1967, comprising certificates as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, 1952, Foundation Fellow of the British College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 1930, as officier and chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur, 1958, 1967, Membre D'Honneur of the Societe Francais de Gynaecologie, undated; display labels for the display cabinet, and certificate of Green-Armytage having been mentioned in a despatch during action in World War One, 1915.

Archival Information

Archival history:

S37/1 contains the surviving contents of a display cabinet presented in January 1962 by Mrs Green-Armytage in memory of her husband. Almost all the contents were stolen in 1971. The items at S37/2-6 may have been presented to the College at the same time; they were later found boxed with the records at S6, but unlisted.
