Administrative/Biographical history:
The working party was set up by the College President in 1984 to "look into ways of improving the management of parents who had had a stillbirth or neonatal death" (Guidance notes in the minute book of the working party; see M16M/1). This body was also known as the working party on the management of perinatal deaths. Its Chairman was R D Atlay FRCOG.

Immediate source of acquisition:
As the bulk of records in the series comprise the papers of R D Atlay, Chairman of the working party and also Honorary Secretary of the RCOG, the material was probably passed to the Archives by Mr Atlay's secretary. An exception is the President's correspondence at M16/2, which was transferred by the President's P A in c1985.
