Born 1884; educated, Clifton and Sandhurst; served in 32 Sikh Pioneers; Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (Life Member), 1907-1940; Indian Political Department, 1909; British Commissioner on the Turco-Persian Boundary Commission, 1914; political officer with Indian Expeditionary Force, Mesopotamia; Deputy Civil Commissioner, 1916; Acting Civil Commissioner and Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, 1918-1920; Anglo-Persian oil company, 1920-1932; MP, 1933; Pilot Officer in the RAF, Oct 1939; died in action, Nov 1940.

Scope and content/abstract:

Papers of Arnold Talbot Wilson, 1911-1940, comprising a journal and other papers of the then Capt A T Wilson, in Luristan, South West Persia, 1911-1912, with a supplement of miscellaneous notes and correspondence numbered 1-24 and reviews and related correspondence, 1928-1938, relating to Wilson's book The Persian Gulf, (Oxford, Clarendan Press, 1928).

Accessed via the Foyle Reading Room. Free of charge for Fellows, Members and those with valid academic identification. All other users pay a charge and must bring identification in order to register on arrival.
