Administrative/Biographical history:

Born 1852; published Les Surprises du Coeur in 1881; wrote an article in 1894: "The End of Books", which predicted that books would eventually become overtaken by other media. He founded the magazine The Book.


Scope and content/abstract:

Letter to an anonymous correspondent in which Octave Uzanne mentions his six months in Brittany, 1918. He claims to have benefitted from the fresh air there.
