Context

Administrative/Biographical history:

The Washington Version, was a three part television documentary on the Gulf War produced for BBC Television and Discovery Channel by Brian Lapping Associates. The documentary was conceived and arranged for The American Enterprise Institute by Richard Perle. The producers were Mark Anderson, Norma Percy and Grace Kitto. The UK version of the documentary was transmitted by BBC2 on 16, 17 and 18 Jan 1992, the US version was transmitted on 17, 24 and 31 January 1992. The US version of the documentary was titled The Gulf Crisis: Road to War, and Program 2 was titled 'New World Order'.

Betacam taped interviews, transcripts of interviews with leading American political and military figures and conference papers, assembled by Brian Lapping Associates Ltd in research for the making of the BBC programme The Washington Version concerning the Gulf Conflict, 1990-1991.

The collection is divided into three main sections.
1. Final Production Scripts, Reports from Gulf War Conferences held by the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, Interview Transcripts and Original Research Interviews;
2. Various chronologies of the Gulf Conflict and press and promotional material for the series, The Washington Version;
3.VHS videocassettes of the three finished programmes in the series.
