Archival Information

Archival history:

Wood Jones was a life long friend of Sir Arthur Keith, Conservator of the Hunterian Museum, Royal College of Surgeons of England and it is thought that he sent this to Keith in 1921 from Australia where Wood Jones was Professor of Anatomy at Adelaide University. A letter in the Arthur Keith Collection [Add Mss 174 Box X Envelope A-B] from Wood Jones to Arthur Keith [Oct 9 1921] enclosed some similar photographs of Tasmanian Aborigines dated 1866. This material was discovered in the Museum office in 2000. Jessie Dobson bequeathed the majority of Wood Jones papers to Royal College of Surgeons in 1985.

Immediate source of acquisition:

Found in Hunterian Museum, Royal College of Surgeons of England April 2000.
