Administrative/Biographical history:

Thomas Egerton Bryant was a General Practitioner in Kennington, Surrey. He was educated at Guy's Hospital, and was Surgeon to Lambeth Workhouse. He became a Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries in 1816, and achieved the MRCS in c1821. He wrote Essay on diseases of the Larynx and Trachea in 1835, for which he was awarded the Fothergillian medal in 1836. He became President of the Medical Society of London in 1837. His eldest son was Thomas Bryant (1828-1914) FRCS.

Papers of Thomas Egerton Bryant, 1812-1839, comprising notes of lectures by Henry Cline (Jnr) (d 1820), 1814; notes of lectures by Sir Astley Paston Cooper, some together with Henry Cline, 1812-1814; notes of lectures by Joseph Henry Green, 1824-1828; notes of lectures by Alexander Marcet and William Allen, 1814; notes of lectures by Richard Owen, 1839; unidentified lecture notes, c 1812; notes on cholera cases, 1832-1834; and medical notes, early 19th century.

Donated by Thomas Egerton Bryant's son, Thomas Bryant FRCS, in 1901. Except a volume and manuscript stamped by the Library in 1914. The provenance of these item is not known.
