Protest, Pysanky and Pechevo

A Celebration of the Archive of the Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain.

Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), the
Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain (AUW) have relocated their
archive from Leicester Ukrainian Club to the University of East London
Archive, home of the Living Refugee Archive. The AUW was founded in 1948
by a group of displaced Ukrainian women who were building a new life in the
UK having been forcibly removed from their homeland during the Second World
War. The archive documents the earliest days of the association right up
to the present day.

Join us at 11am on 25 September (GMT) as we celebrate the end of this
project in an online seminar. Speakers include Paul Dudman, archivist at
the University of East London, who will talk about the Living Refugee
Archive, and Iryna Terlecky, Alexandra Mitchell and Larysa Bolton, members
of AUW’s archive project team, who will talk about AUW and the project.

The event is open to everyone, and we particularly hope it will be of use
and interest to archive practitioners working with community groups, and to
community groups looking to find a home for their collection in a formal
repository.
