Max Communications—sponsors of AIM25—would like to share a Christmas appeal from our good friends and neighbours, Woolwich Service Users Project [WSUP].

WSUP is a grassroots, Woolwich-based charity that supports people who are going through, or are at risk of, poverty, homelessness, addiction and any other life challenges in Greenwich and the surrounding boroughs. A popular and successful drop-in service has been running at WSUP Woolwich since 2010.

The charity offers essential services including hot meals, showers, haircuts, a laundry service and a clothing bank, which take place in the warm and welcoming drop-in centre on site in Woolwich. WSUP also partners with external organisations to provide advice and support, including help with healthcare, housing, employment, skills training, addiction, debt and mental health issues.

In addition to these, WSUP run a range of wellbeing activities, including yoga and meditation, to enhance health and quality of life.

Service users at WSUP are regarded as guests. Here, they have the opportunity to relax and be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment.

Guests who access WSUP services are full of praise for the warm reception received when they turn up needing help:

“It’s like a little piece of heaven. When you come here you know nobody will give you any grief.”

“It’s a lovely service for people who haven’t got family or friends, and have got problems in life, to come and share.”

“This place is magic, because there’s nowhere else to go. Other places have been shut down. They help you out when you come here, with food, and it’s a nice place to meet, to chat. The staff are really nice. Some of them I’ve known from other places and they remember me. Without this place lots of people wouldn’t survive.”

“WSUP’s a lifeline for people like me.”

This Christmas, WSUP is asking well-wishers to support someone in this community to have a better Christmas with a donation of £10 (or whatever you can afford), to put a smile on someone’s face.

To donate, simply visit https://www.justgiving.com/woolwichserviceusersproject. Every donation helps to support this treasured and essential service.

If you would be interested in becoming a corporate partner of WSUP, more information can be found here.
